B.L.T.

Sometimes nothing will satisfy you other than classic Americana foods. B.L.T.'s are just that. I can't think of anyone who doesn't like bacon and because of that, this is one meal that will have people singing your praises for years to come. (Well, maybe not years, but you get the picture;) Also, and added bonus are sweat potato fries seasoned with chipotle flavoring. One hundred percent hands down my absolute favorite junk food. I'm not even sure you can call them junk food since sweat potatoes are one of the most nutritionally packed vegetables. And just to round things out home made fries. There is no link for this recipe because I'm fairly certain every one knows how to make this and if not, well, that's sad. Cheers to classic good eats.

Bargain Bin

Sometimes you come across a deal so good you don't know if your dreaming or have just been handed your winning lotto ticket. For me this happened last week at my local Goodwill store. I consider this place to be my fashion secret weapon because almost all of my favorite clothing items have come from here. Plus, you can't beat the prices no matter what. Typically you could put a spin on this and call them vintage items but when your local Target store also donates clothes that havent sold (usually they are no more than 4 months old from their sale rack) it's hardly vintage. And this is what I had the good fortune of acquiring.

P.S. all items were under 5 dollars.

Puerto Vallarta Revisited

After going through my honeymoon pictures again I realized there were some I liked looking at more than others. I took some pictures of things I found interesting through out the hotel. Some were for their color, others for their shape and some just because they were uniquely Mexican and I wanted to remember them. Here you may enjoy them with me.

The Heart of the Matter

All neckalces from Betsey Johnson

After getting a heart necklace for my birthday (seen here) I've realized Betsey Johnson has mad skills when it comes to decorating you're neck. Which is entirely what has inspired today's post. Not because I found myself scouring the internet for different ones, but because each one is so unique that they each should be celebrated. These are only a few of the ones I found, not to mention the ones that aren't even hearts. Let's just say that when you want to feel girly and beautiful and funkycoolawesometrendypunkhip, Betsey should be your first stop.

Super Slouchy Mossy Green Beanie

Spring may have officially arrived, but here in Michigan winter is till in full effect. Temperature wise at least. w have been getting a mix of snowy wet rain type of gray days that require your best winter armor. I really can't complain because that just means I have more time to make cozy crochet's. My latest being this super luscious mossy green slouchy beanie. I have made a gray one just the same in the past (seen here) but a customer asked for one green. i love custom orders and this gren was really pretty and couldn't wait to see how it turned out. Well, it turned out great.  And, gave me one more reason to be thankful that the sun has not come out in full force. However, having seen some of the great sun dresses that are starting to come out might have me pining for a few degrees warmer very shortly.

Tres Leches Cake

Since last week was my birthday I had the pleasure of making my very own birthday cake. When your a kid you always seem to get cartoon characters or some type of version of dirt cake (which just might still be my favorite cake). But when your an adult, you realize you can make any cake you want! This past summer I found out that Whole Foods makes a version of Tres Leches (seen here) that was absolutely to die for. I used to baby sit for a little mexican girl and I can remember one time there family had the same cake.  It was the first time I had tried and was hooked ever since. Well, now that I am an adult I decided it was time I start making my own traditions, and birthday cakes is a great place to start.  I used Sandra Lee's  recipe, here, and just eliminated the coconut.

Homemade Pizza

Considering how much my husband and myself eat pizza, I'm a little surprised at myself for never having actually made the dough by myself. My husband can usually whip up  a good dough ball in no time flat, but I've never actually kneaded and worked the dough myself. Monday that all changed. I decided it was high time I dove in head first and got my hands good and dirty (and fairly sticky). I can now say with certainty that from now on pizza in our house will be hand made. I never knew how fun making your own dough could be. It instantly made me realize how much there is to learn and know about something as simple as dough. I can't wait to start making my own breads and flavored crusts. It's like a whole new world has been showed to me. Plus, considering the fact that I want to own my own pizza shop some day I figure I better start learning sooner or later all there is to know about what is arguably the best food in the world.

Happy Birthday To...

                                                           ~Some great birthday cards~

Me! and my sister and my cousin. In the Premo family there are three birthdays that all fall on the three consecutive days. Mine starts off on the 13th, my sisters follows on the 14th, and my cousin's rounds us off nicely on the 15th. Which is today! Happy birthday John! Even though I didn't do anything to spectacular ( I worked and tried making wol socks) I still enjoyed myself. I got some amazing presents (as shown) and had family all around. Really, everything I could need. And even though this birthday, my 25th, is considered to be a milestone year, I feel like even though I did not spend the actual birth day doing anything milestone-y I still have the whole year to get that in. Plus one of my good friends 25th is also this year so I figure a joint milestone-y type of celebration is completely fine and of good taste.

Green with Envy

We have finally got my husbands office done and complete. What feels like has been forever has finally come to a head and the results are amazing. His office was originally going to be mine, but after I got/tried to get all of my stuff in there, it wasn't happening. So in turn I took his bigger one and he humbly downgraded pour moi. To be honest, his office looks better now than in the bigger one. He has about a third less stuff than I and the small space seems to absorb it very nicely without feeling suffocating. I am currently in the process of painting his old one and am beyond excited to finally get my stuff moved in there for my own little pice of sanctuary. Here is the last time this room made an appearance and also a sneak peak (again) at the new color my office will be.

Puerto Vallarta 2011

Just got back from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and I lovvvvved it. I have to admit I was a bit scared/hesitant to go because of all the happening with the drug cartel and everything, plus add to the fact that my mom and sister had been telling me about all the bad stuff. But I am so glad I did not listen to them. I could not have felt safer and could not have had a better time. We spent most of our days laying about on the beach in the sun, playing beach volleyball, swimming in the waves and eating every meal until we were stuffed. All inclusive is definitely the way to go. If your looking for a vacation destination I would definitely recommend the west side of Mexico, gorgeous. I also loved how our hotel had no doors or windows (because when the weather is that gorgeous year round who does?) The architecture was picture perfect and the little details in the furniture like fabrics and texture really stood out and set this hotel apart. RIU Vallarta will forever be a place I will always recommend.
