Our Weekend

My husband and I do not have a "normal" weekend. That is it does not fall on Saturday and Sunday. We both work both those days so we are left to decide when we will spend our weekend. For him it has been on average anywhere starting from Tuesday to Wednesday. (Unless it is a holiday week and he only gets one of those days) I try to work my schedule around his so that the two of us see each other at some point before the week is done.  This picture is one of those reminders of what can accumulate in a five day span and what the joys of staying at home with one another can bring. It might look like a lot of work but it just means more time I get to be around him. Included in this mess are some dishes used for making some awesome breakfast muffins I try to make ahead of time for John to take to work with him in the morning for his breakfast. And also, a new "Sunday" favortie of ours, waffles. John found a great recipe online (soon to come) that had oats in it. Yum-O.

Missoni For Target

Stop the presses! If you haven't already head Missoni is teaming up with Target this September (the 13th to be exact) to bring you one the best collections from any high end designer to collaborate with a department store. Not only will Missoni be creating a chic and fabulous women's collection, but they will also be selling everything from accessories to bicycles. Yes, that's right bicycles. As of right now I am dying over the house wears and scarves. Top onmy list to purchase will be there awesome throw. (I have wanted one ever since I seen one on Rachel Zoe's bed in a spread for a magazine). It was beautiful then and will be just as beautiful on my own. I give mad kuddos to all teh designers who have participated in the GO International collaborations with Target. But Missoni just takes this to a new level. No designer has been so expansive with teh range of items they are offering. You can see herehere and here that I oh so appreciate what Missoni has to offer and am bursting at the seems that they are teaming up with one of my favorite stores. See you on the 13th!

Detroit Tigers

Summer just doesn't feel complete without attending some sort of out door game. Whether it be professional baseball, little league, volleyball in the sand, or a croquet game in your own backyard, summer seems sweeter when your enjoying the warm nights with people you love and care about it. I have only been to a real Tigers game twice (last night included) and this was the first night game for me as well. So much fun. Even though we were in the sun's line of fire as it was setting the sky and stadium couldn't have been more beautiful. Definitely a great way to spend an evening with your honey. Plus, the tigers won! Needless to say, it was great time.

Instagram

Yesterday my friend introduced me to this awesome app for my iPhone. It is called Instagram and I think I just might be the last person on earth to have discovered it. I love how it changes your new photos just taken into ones that look like they came from my moms old photo albums. Here are a few of the pictures I have been experimenting with since discovering all its gnarly features.

Not Actual Size

This past weekend my mom and I took atrip to IKEA. It is always a success when we go there finding useful and exciting things. One of my favorite decor items that they have is their pictures and posters. This week i found one to be better than all the rest due in fact to the disclaimer in the bottom right.

Love From The Mitten State

Michigan is having a blood drive today, well it started yesterday and ends tomorrow, and they did some great advertising for it this time. If you come in to try to donate but can't you still get to leave with this awesome gift bag full of Michigan goodies. First we have a Meijer reusable tote bag, a free box of girl scout cookies (you could pick whichever flavor you liked) a bag of Better Made potato chips, a bottle of vernors, coupon for a jug of cranberry juice, a pint of vanilla bean ice cream, and if that wasn't enough a custom love the mitten statge t-shirt. (I would  have donated just for the t-shirt) It's only the second day of the event and they are already out of smalls and mediums and I think I got the last large. They said about 136 people came through yesterday which is huge and will help save many peoples lives that would not have been otherwise. Congratulations to everyone who participated, this event was a great success. My only comment was that this should  be done for organ donation registry. So if your not already, go sign up to be an organ donor! Or give some blood in the mean time.

Grilled Chicken and Veggies

For the past, coule months or so, we have been in the rdecorating/upgrading of our home mode. Our house was built in the
20's (straight out of a Sears Roebucks catalog) and is in not terrible shape but in need of some TLC. So needless to say our house has not been, organized? (disaster area is more like it) These past couple weeks we have been redoing our hardwood floors (pictures soon to come) so everything from the dinning room had gotten moved in to the kitchen. Thus not leaving us with much room for cooking. Turns out pretty perfectly though that when there is a hundred degree heat wave moving throught the are the last thing you want to do is to be cooking in a hot kitchen. So what better idea than to start up the grill. We have gotten some pretty good use out of our grill this year and, no joking, my husband makes the best grilled chicken I have ever had. So we did just that. Threw on some chicken strips, veggies, did have to use the kitchen to make some rice, and add on some sweet cooking sauce. And voila! One of the best tasting meels this side of the bridge.
{One of the best tasting sauces I have ever had. Total score from TJMaxx}
